crappy hand of haiku

Here is a piece I've been sitting on for months and finally got around to finishing.  I was inspired by Arcade Fire's appearance on SNL.  Since I'm new to using gouache, I didn't feel comfortable painting over the girl with the bluish glass.  So, through the power of photoshop, I was able to combine the two images.  Also, you can check out the performance that inspired the illustration below.

I've been working on this for a couple of hours painting, thought I'd share some progress shots.  I feel like I am starting to get a flow going with the my intuos.  I think I'm doing pretty well having only been working with digital painting for a month!  Hopefully, I'll have a fully finished piece soon!

So I wrote this strip back in 2008 when we all probably had to stand in long lines to cast our ballots.  Hope your voting went well!

Here is my entry for this weeks Illustration Friday .  The word this week was lush, and the first thing I thought of was a mustache and I went with it.  And for further inspiration, I chose to put it on my loose interpretation of Bill Murray.  I hope you enjoy.

At work, I was assigned to create an illustration of a "one celled dog" based on an illustration a professor gave to me.  While I finished the illustration (which, by the way, was never used because you know, we were copying someone else's work), I thought about what the opposite of the one celled dog would be and came up with the cosmic dog.
